The home of chocolate, skiing and private banking offers more to tourists than just the typical brochure scenes. Geneva is just one city in the tiny country that has plenty of surprising delights - take the time to explore Geneva and learn something new about Switzerland.

Geneva was once the world headquarters of the United Nations, and though that has recently moved to New York City, Geneva still has an international flair that makes it a hot-spot for travellers from around the world. Here you can feel on top of the world as you relax in the city nestled in the mountains.

It's this height that has many people choosing to take the famed Telepherique du Saleve - a cable car that is near the French border of Switzerland. Though a bit outside of Geneva, the cable car provides amazing panoramic views of the city, and Lake Geneva as well.

Those who choose to use the cable car often hike further into the mountains, though some will relax and enjoy coffee and a snack from the top. Those wanting to bring bikes to the mountain in order to cycle down are more than welcome to in the cable car. As well, many daring tourists choose to paraglide after learning from the many schools based around the base of the Saleve.

Inside the city there are plenty of events that take place to entertain travellers of all varieties. The city sees a number of festivals and shows take place, including the Bol D'Or Yacht Race in June and the city's own Fete de Geneve in August.

Geneva is also known for stunning architecture and cathedrals, which draw in many sightseers each year. The St Pierre Cathedral is a well-known piece of architecture in the city and is considered to be of great historical importance as an example of architecture from the Reformation era.

For those looking to relax more than sightsee, Geneva is a stunning city with plenty of places to enjoy the scenery and city life. Geneva boasts many parks, which offer a green sanctuary throughout the city. The Parc des Bastions boasts giant chess sets, and the Parc des Eaux Vices offers a view of the historic UN grounds.

No matter what season you're hoping to take your flights to Geneva, you're sure to find plenty of entertainment - whether it's skiing in the winter or summer festivals, or simply admiring the many attractions.
